Met this one Romanian engineer Chris Scarlat at the common room of our hostel before heading out to the city. He was about to update the websites of the hostel we were, he even showed some work he have done (http://24photoshop.com/). Pretty cool! Like from a different planet than my blog site. Chris found out that I’m Finnish and asked me about the ”UFO” found lying at the bottom of the Gulf of Bothnia from summer 2011. I really didn’t know anything specific about it, but had a very interesting chat as he kept talking about it with him and headed to breakfast.
It was the birthday of one Finnish friend of mine, Iina, who was actually going to spend her spring here at Seoul studying. She had arrived here on Monday, so we decided to meet on Yongsanin metro stop in the evening and head to Shinsegae mall. I got whole day before that and took my first metro-ride of the day to Jongno 3(sam)-ga to see the Cheonggyecheon stream.
After a coffee break aside the Cheonggyecheon stream I accidentally found myself on the site of a Korean labor union strike. They were striking against government intentions to privatize public companies. There were both the strikers, and of course the police. The atmosphere was pretty charged. There must have been more polices than there is citizens in my home city Lammi. The Sejong-daero street was covered fully on a distance at least of 700 meters of police busses, barricade-vehicles and police cars. Polices were like everywhere. As I was taking pictures this one Korean journalist Haarin approached me and asked could he take a photo of me and upload it to the Twitter. I said of course!! (link to the Twitter: https://twitter.com/zwarin/status/438203109936869376) I had plans to go to see others sights later on the day, but this one had me busy enough that the next stop was to see Iina.
Iina had her friend Klaara with her, and after shaking hands we took a course in some restaurant at the Shinsegae mall. We really didn’t know what was it, but it was good! Headed downtown, wondered a little and hit this one bar at Itaewon to have Iina’s birthday beer.
Regards
