Woke up at 7.00 AM cos’ of flu a think I had yesterday. No worries, one 800 mg Burana, a shower, little HTML editing to blog site and off to the city. The two Kazakhstanian roommates of mine gave me a hint that the Korean War memorial at Yongsan-gu and Gyeongbokgung Palace is two must see places here in Seoul. Guys had been here for a while and going to leave Seoul today. Okay, I said thanks and headed to the War memorial.
War memorial sited next to a South Korea’s Department of Defense, so besides the war trinkets I got to see lot of uniforms. I knew something about Korean War before entering the memorial zone, but I have to admit that got a full information pump at the zone.
I decided to go to the Gyeongbokgung Palace after I gave it a turn on the Seoul City Hall. A little round-a-bout on a neighborhood and back to the metro. At the Seoul City Hall metro station I got teamed up with a local student of Seoul National University, he said that I looked like I’m lost... No way! I got the metro map and everything in my hands! I definitely knew where I was heading to...
Got to the Gyeongbokgung Palace, and a group of local university students approached me and said that they have this course work to do on which they have to interview a foreigner, got a minute? Definitely! Few answers later I bought a ticket to get in to the Palace, and got approached again! Another interview! Well I didn’t got on time to the palace as they shut down the entrance before I managed to get the interview done, but I had really good time with the local university students!
There was this one site, the Seoul tower that I wanted to visit before sunset! Got up to the Namsan Mountain by Namsan Cable Car, and there I was! The view could be better, as my buddy from Keimyung told me that the air is very bad nowadays, as the wind blows all the bad air from China to Korea to form fog. But still, I enjoyed every sight...
Regards
Henri
