Korea is very surprising almost every week. The teacher of one of my classes said that the Yellow storm is coming from China this week. She recommended that we should buy one of these respiratory protection wear since the storm is formed from China’s industrial waste and sand from the China’s deserts. Things that are not so healthy she said.

Last week we had some bad weather, raining etc. and in the morning the temperature was nearly above zero. The beginning of this week we have had some +20 degrees Celsius and a sunny weather. Almost like the normal summer degrees in Finland. And now the teacher is saying that there is a sandstorm coming in the end of the week..

The biggest surprise happened last Friday, as we were near the East Gate of the Campus. The time was something over 1 PM when accidently there was this sound going off from some kind of horns. Something was happening; suddenly no cars going on the road, no pedestrians walking, there were these people with the reflective fests watching over the quiet city. It almost seemed that everything stopped. We didn’t have any clue what was happening, a friend of mine even joked that now the North Korea is invading the South.

We were told by another exchange student that there are 15 this kind of occurrences per a year. She has had one semester here already, and she was saying that they are some kind of rehearsals for people to be vigilant. For what for, we didn’t get any certain answer. I’m only certain that I saw these fighter jets flying over our dormitory later that day..

Regards

Henri

Sunny day at the Daegu downtown.

Tuesday’s lunch: bibimpab, served of course with the kimchi.
EDIT 21.03.2014: The lunch was bulgogi, not bibimbab (I even mistyped this one). Thanks to Hee En for correcting me!
