Mr. Cho from International Affairs Office wanted to thank us exchange students for the surprise we arranged to him after his wife gave birth to a wonderful baby-girl some three weeks ago. The plan was to have a small party together with a dinner + some beers afterwards. The word got out in our KELI-chat in Kakao-talk and soon there was almost 30 people going. But Mr. Cho had promised to treat us and so we were off.
We felt a bit guilty cos’ we were so many people, so we decided to put our input to a tiny envelope beforehand and give it to Mr. Cho at the dinner so he would have resources to take care of their baby. Of course this is against Korean habits and culture, but we gave a hard time to Mr. Cho there so eventually he had no choice than to accept our little envelope.
Plans of the weekend also included the burger challenge at the Traveller’s Bar. The challenge was to eat the staggering-size-burger with 2 pounds of meat in a one hour. We had to delay that by a day cos’ the Traveller’s were totally crowded on Saturday. We heard there was this rugby tournament organized earlier that day so the restaurant was totally crowded by western players.
Sunday came and suddenly we found ourselves climbing up the Apsan Mountain. We had spoken that why don’t we gave it a turn on top of the Mt. Apsan before the burger challenge cos’ there is the cable car going to the top. Yeap. There was the cable car but it was under maintenance. We didn’t give up and we climbed on top of the Mt. Apsan, the Mountain having elevation of 600 meters. The burger challenge felt heavenly good after the climbing..
